Whether it’s for kids, adults or both, Game Night is a lively way to bring family and friends together for some healthy competition and fun. Follow the tips below to create an entertaining evening for all.

Choose a Theme:

Decide which games you are going to play. Is it a fancy poker game or a casual game of Scrabble or Monopoly? A theme helps you choose colors, food and ambiance. Whichever game you choose, make sure that your guests/players understand the rules before playing.

Set the Stage:

Get creative! For example, if you’re playing Monopoly, you might cover a table or surface with a green tablecloth to symbolize money and add some colorful accent pieces such as napkins, glasses and plates to mimic the colors on the playing board.

Food and Drink:

Finger food and easy snacks go hand in hand with game playing. Arrange bowls of popcorn, Chex mix, pretzels, etc for guests around the table. If you’re serving a meal, you might choose a bowl of chili or soup to keep things easy and allow for more playing time.
Create a cocktail around the game. Make an OId Fashioned for Monopoly or a Caipirinha for a game of Scrabble.

Comfort Zone:

Make sure you have ample seating and cushions to keep guests comfortable, especially with longer games. You can even use oversized stuffed animals for kids or create floor seating with pillows and other cushions.

Winner Takes All:

Create fun prizes for the winner such as a small bag of special candy, homemade Chex Mix, reusable stickers for computer or water bottles, small, scented candles, etc. Weave your theme into the prize category, if you so choose.

Have fun!
