On this week’s episode, host Caryn Antonini is joined by Chef Elijah Addo, food stylist, chef, seasoned television personality and social entrepreneur in Accra, Ghana. In 2011 Elijah created Chefs for Change Ghana Foundation, which in short time grew to become Food for All Africa, West Africa’s first and largest food bank – a food support center creating fresh, sustainable nutrition for people in need. Elijah is a graduate of Sphinx Hospitality school and catering services in Lagos, Nigeria, he holds a certificate in entrepreneurship and management from Young Africa Leader’s Initiative (YALI West Africa RLC-GIMPA) and earned a Leading Change certificate from the University of Cambridge in 2017. He was the recipient of the 2017 Queen’s Young Leader Award presented by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace for his contribution towards social development across the commonwealth. In 2020 he became a New Voices Fellow at the Aspen Institute. And these are just a few of his many awards and accomplishments for his critical work.

Linda is well versed in the world of caviar, having spent time in the former Soviet Union in the early 90’s, at a time when the best quality caviar came from countries around the Caspian Sea, Black River Caviar began 30 years ago when Walter Alcalde pursued his dream of becoming the first Southern Hemisphere caviar producer in the world. During his years of provisioning Atlantic fishing boats on the Rio Negro, Walter met Russian sailors who introduced him to both caviar and the business of caviar. In the 1980’s Walter seized on an opportunity to farm raise sturgeon when overfishing had depleted in the Caspian Sea.

Alex Keller is a fourth generation coffee farmer at family-run Finca Santa Isabel in Guatemala, which began in 1899. The farm is certified organic and uses biodynamic production practices. Alex has been growing, processing and exporting coffee since 1993, and he has served on the board of ANACAFE – The National Coffee Association of Guatemala – as Vice President and President and has been active with their foundation, Funcafé which serves to improve the quality of life of families in rural Guatemala. Jay Kling is a specialty coffee professional, working as Director of Coffee for Irving Farm in New York. Jay has worked in specialty coffee since 2015 with a focus on bringing more value and equity to coffee producers through efficient and transparent supply chains. He has been a licensed Q Arabica grader since 2019. Established in 1996, Irving Farm New York has led New York City’s coffee industry with their neighborhood cafes and over 20 years of roasting. Their focus is on sourcing, roasting and brewing coffees from their network of global partners. Finca Santa Isabel is Irving’s longest producer relationship.
