
A pre-Prohibition cocktail, originally created by a German-born bartender in New York named Hugo Ensslin, this gorgeous purple hued drink was likely named for the aviation industry’s popularity at the time.
Yields 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
2 oz Highclere Castle Gin
1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
1/4 oz creme de violette
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
Garnish with sour or brandied cherry
In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, add the gin, both liqueurs and lemon juice. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds and strain into a coupe glass.
Garnish with a sour or brandied cherry.
