Summer solstice occurs on June 21st marking the official beginning of summer and longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Warmer weather lends to slower paces and a time to enjoy sunny days at the beach or poolside, long weekend get-aways and alluring travel.

The month of June was named after the ancient Roman Goddess, Juno, a powerful female figure and overseer of marriage, home and family. Perhaps it is the reason why June has become a traditional month for weddings.

For tennis fans, two of the grand slams take place in June – we begin the month with the latter part of the French Open and end the month with the start of Wimbledon. Golf, horseracing, rugby and Grand Prix events are held globally throughout this summer month.
