February brings with it beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The various pink hues also ring in a season of love, marked by Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated differently in many cultures. But one thing remains true; love is at the heart of this holiday. February gets its name from the Latin word, Februarius, which means “to purify”, “to cleanse.” In Roman times it was known as the purification month, named after their festival, Februa. It is the shortest month of the year where we are ever hopeful that spring is just around the corner. Days become longer, winter sunrises and sunsets are strikingly beautiful, and even the symbolism of February’s plants and flowers signify hope and renewal.
