Eggnog has a long, interesting history, but regardless of its origins, it has become a traditional, festive holiday beverage – and is simple to make!
Yields 4 cocktails
Ingredients:
2 eggs, separated
4 tablespoons of sugar, divided
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup bourbon, rum, or brandy
Garnish with grated nutmeg
Beat the egg yolks in a large bowl with 3 tablespoons of the sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the milk, heavy cream, and your choice of spirit.
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with the remaining tablespoon of sugar until soft peaks form. Fold egg white mixture into the yolk mixture.
Divide between 4 glasses and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
Cheers!
Tip:
Use the freshest eggs possible
